Ireland South candidate Adrienne Wallace demands urgent environmental action following species extinction
‘UN report is devastating and shows we need radical change now’, says Wallace

According to the latest UN report, one million animal and plant species face extinction, many within decades. In a statement, Adrienne Wallace, the People Before Profit European election candidate for Ireland South, said, ‘the natural world upon which our existence depends is being destroyed at a terrifying pace. We need radical change at the national and international levels if we are to tackle this crisis.

‘The resources of our planet are limited – the current economic system, which prioritises the profits of the wealthy to the detriment of the planet, is not sustainable.

‘As a candidate for the European parliament, I want to keep fossil fuels in the ground and direct public funds to renewable energy sources.

‘We need an economic system that puts people before profit, one based on democratic planning and public ownership of our shared resources. This means large-scale changes – the time for half measures has passed’.
